This allows the teaching staff to pace the course taking into account the delegates\u2019 experience.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"618.9440000000006\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"618.9440000000006\">This interactive course complies with BAD\/BPG core of knowledge for phototherapies and is delivered by recognised experts in the phototherapy field. The delegates receive comprehensive course materials including the Phototherapy Training Manual \u00a9 and all the documentation needed to start and run a full, safe and effective phototherapy service.<\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"167.03999999999996\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"638.8160000000004\">The course has 14 3\/4 hours teaching time and includes practical sessions during the three-day duration. Final assessment to assure the delegate that the learning objectives have been met is in the form of multiple choice questions and takes approximately 1hour 15 minutes to complete. The assessment is marked and feedback given on the final day.<\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"626.3360000000008\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"626.3360000000008\">Delegates have unlimited access to professional support following completion of the course provided by National experts on all aspects of phototherapy.<\/div>\r\n<div data-canvas-width=\"626.3360000000008\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newportphototherapytraining.co.uk\/?page_id=766\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Feedback from previous courses<\/span><\/a> &#8230;<\/p>\r\n<h2>Intended Course Audience<\/h2>\r\n<p>These intensive three-day courses in UV phototherapy are intended for:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Qualified nurses and physiotherapists who have not previously received formal training in this form of treatment.<\/li>\r\n<li>Dermatologists\/consultants setting up or taking over phototherapy services and medical physicists with responsibility for the service.<\/li>\r\n<li>Practitioners currently working in skin clinics but feel their training in phototherapy and PUVA has been deficient.<\/li>\r\n<li>Nurses and physiotherapists who wish to update and consolidate their knowledge in this increasingly complicated subject.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Topic Coverage<\/h2>\r\n<p>The course will cover the basics of phototherapy and PUVA, to allow insight into how good working practices can be developed from a firm grasp of first principles.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Both theoretical and practical aspects of the subjects will be covered, including:<\/li>\r\n<li>the UV radiation spectrum<\/li>\r\n<li>radiation protection and measurement<\/li>\r\n<li>effects of UV on the skin<\/li>\r\n<li>photoresponsive diseases<\/li>\r\n<li>pharmacology of topical and oral psoralens<\/li>\r\n<li>PUVA<\/li>\r\n<li>UV-B therapy (narrow-band)<\/li>\r\n<li>management of adverse events<\/li>\r\n<li>counselling and consent of patients<\/li>\r\n<li>clinic documentation<\/li>\r\n<li>medical audit and quality control<\/li>\r\n<li>health education and research<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>There will also be an introductory lecture on photodynamic therapy (PDT) for skin disorders.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Pre-Course Reading<\/h2>\r\n<p>On receipt of payment of the course fees, you will receive a pdf version\u00a0of the training manual\u00a0 for pre-course reading. A printed copy will be issued during the course.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Fees &#8211; What&#8217;s Included?<\/h2>\r\n<p>The course fee includes lunch and refreshments during the teaching day and associated\u00a0teaching materials.<\/p>\r\n<p>Accommodation costs are not included, but there are a wide range of hotels in Cardiff City Centre within walking distance of the venue if you are planning to stay. <strong>NB:<\/strong> We would advise that, if your travel time is more than 45 minutes, you should consider staying in Cardiff as the extent of additional reading and the onerous amount of work covered during the course is very tiring.<\/p>\r\n<p>Payment of the course fees is to be made in full 8 weeks before commencement of the course. If payment is not received, the place will be given to the first person on the waiting list.
