MED/MPD Testing

appnbkAn Introduction to Minimal Erythema Dose (MED) and Minimal Phototoxic Dose (MPD) Testing

Course Duration: Half Day Training Session

Venue: Online via Teams/Zoom

Date: To be advised

Course Fee: £95 plus VAT

Programme

Phototherapy and PUVA are complex therapies where the phototherapist is often required to make a decision regarding the initial treatment. Whilst skin typing may be utilised in some circumstances, it is not as effective as performing MED/MPD testing and may lead to under/overdosing the patient on the first treatment. Performing MED/MPD tests on patients prior to commencement of UV phototherapy enables the phototherapist to deliver safe, therapeutic treatments.

This half day MED/MPD testing training session for phototherapists will address both the theoretical and practical aspects of carrying out these tests in accordance with best practice.

Course Aims

• To critique relevant literature/research
• To discuss the reasoning behind MED/MPD tests.
• To introduce participants to a variety of methods for MED/MPD testing.

Fees

Payment of the course fees is to be made in full 8 weeks before commencement of the course. If payment is not received, the place will be given to the first person on the waiting list. We will not send reminders so would advise payment on receipt of invoice.
